The Sofia University OSA Student Chapter was established in 2010. The mission of the Society is to promote the generation, application and archiving of knowledge in optics and photonics and to disseminate this knowledge worldwide. The purposes of the Society are scientific, technical and educational. Similarly to our mother organization, the objectives of this chapter are:

 diffuse the knowledge of optics, pure and applied;

 to promote the common interests of investigators of optical problems, of designers and of users of optical apparatus of all kinds;

 to encourage cooperation among them;

 local communities;

 to serve as a means of communication and interaction between students, faculty, and administration;

 to establish interaction between students and local sections and national headquarters of the to promote awareness of the optical science and optical engineering among the academic and Optical Society of America;

 to broaden the student’s insight of post-graduate opportunities.
